  2. Being in software development I have seen exactly what you are describing. I think for some, work is their only identity. I have found that most of the time the people with issues like that are exposing some sort of social defect or short-coming that they won't admit to or don't believe they have.

    In the end, that frustration may turn to pity when you discover their existence to be so shallow.

  3. In this case the social defects this person has are PAINFULLY obvious to EVERYBODY except a select few it seems.

    I know it's not their only identity, but I think the reason why this is happening is because they haven't been doing their job with the quality or the attention to detail that they should.
